Aims and objectives

At the conclusion of this unit students will be able to:
  • Gain and insight into how futures work produces both opportunities and challenges for organisational strategy
  • Understand the interests of internal stakeholders
  • Become knowledgeable about Corporate Social Responsibility programs in organisations
  • Analyse the interests of external stakeholders
  • Apply a Delphi process to generate ‘expert’ futures data
  • Develop and apply an environmental scanning framework to an organisational context

Teaching methods

Lecture (2 hourS), Tutorials (1 hour)

Assessment

Individual Assignment (50%), Participation (20%), Team Project (30%)

  • The tools, techniques and approaches that constitute environmental scanning
  • The design and implementation of Delphi (expert) future processes
  • The history and theory of Corporate Social Responsibility programs in organisations
  • How organisations can build future focussed cultures through the use of Mission, Vision and Values statements
