Aims and objectives

At the conclusion of this unit students will be able to:
  • Identify the stages of organisation growth and the issues to be managed at each stage, and apply these as diagnostic frameworks
  • Understand and explain the leadership challenges that organisational growth presents
  • Understand and explain how organisational culture forms and how it influences an organisation’s capacity to act
  • Understand the benefits and risks of growth and recommend growth strategies for a given organisation
  • Use the theoretical models of organisation growth to identify issues and appropriate actions in unfamiliar situations with imperfect information
  • Work as a team to develop a project brief and complete the project according to that brief

Lecture (1 hour), Case Study Seminars (1 hour), Tutorials (1 hour)

Assessment

Individual assignment (50%), Participation (20%), Team project (30%)
