Aims and objectives

This unit covers specific knowledge areas regarding planning and control of linear and commercial/industrial construction projects using location-based management methods.

Upon learning, the students shall be able to:
  • Understand related concepts and functions of management using location-based planning and control methods and comparison with activity-based approaches.
  • Apply relevant principles and theories for location-based planning and control, including lean approaches to construction management.
  • Demonstrate a functional knowledge of using appropriate tools and techniques for location-based planning and control.
  • Understand the role of digital modeling in providing source data for planning, control and visualization in 5D environments.
  • Formulate and/ or specify suitable strategies, methods and tools/ techniques for managing in the project-based engineering industries.
