Aims and objectives

The aim of this unit is to provide an understanding of the key human factors concepts that can have an impact on safety in an operational environment.

At the completion of this unit of study students will be able to:
  • Identify the key human factors issues that impact upon safety in an operational environment.
  • Describe the regulatory requirements for human factors in the safety of operational environments.
  • Demonstrate a practical understanding of key crew resource management skills.
  • Practise effectively in a team.

Teaching methods

The teaching method will be by distance education using Blackboard to deliver materials on-line.

Assessment

Assessment will comprise: 
On-line exercises (worth 65%) and
A written individual assignment (worth 35%)
