Aims and objectives
At the conclusion of this unit students will be able to:
- Describe the elements of futures thinking
- Undertake a trend analysis on a relevant topic
- Apply creative and innovative thinking to selected contemporary issues
- Prepare probable scenarios around a selected issue
- Work as a team to develop new ideas and scenarios

Content
- The nature of our understanding of time, how different timeframes are socially constructed and how both of these impacts on how the future is considered
- Demonstrate a number of tools and techniques that individual s can use to promote creative and innovative thinking
- Show the ways that trends can be analysed and how this aids making forecasts
- Demonstrate the use of cross-impact analysis as an aid to decision-making
- An explanation and demonstration of scenario thinking and how it is used to futures thinking
