Aims and objectives

Communication of a design idea is a key skill for all interior designers. This studio will develop students’ existing communication
skills for exhibition, publication and presentation purposes. The emphasis will be on digital presentation with students involved in
producing detailed communication strategies including 3D modelling using the most current computer software.
 
After successfully completing this unit, you should be able to:
• Develop an understanding of how to accurately represent a design precedent in orthographic projection (plan, section, and
elevation).
• Create accurate orthographic representations of architectural or interior designs using digital technologies.
• Develop an understanding of how to represent materiality and lighting of an interior space using digital technologies.
• Create professional standard 3D representations of architectural or interior ideas using digital technologies.
• Develop an understanding of how to use digital collage techniques to represent an architectural or interior idea.
• Create professional standard 3D collage representations of an architectural or interior space.

Teaching methods

In a semester, you should be expected to spend on average, twelve and a half hours of total time (formal contact time plus
independent study time) a week on a 12.5 credit point unit of study. This may vary if the unit is delivered in intensive mode or online. The unit is delivered in a combined 3-hour lecture plus tutorial studio including workshops, discussions, reviews, and critiques.
