Learning Outcomes
Students who complete this unit of study should be able to:
- Define and describe the concepts and history of business process, business process value, business process improvement, business process reengineering and workflow
- Demonstrate by example the benefits of conceptualising an organisation in terms of its core business processes, and articulating a process architecture that ensures an alignment between processes and strategy
- Compare and evaluate different methods, tools and techniques to identify, model and redesign business processes
- Articulate the transformations and decisions required to convert an 'As-Is' process model into a ' To-Be' model
- Show by example how the introduction of IS/IT-enabled process automation and process improvement can facilitate innovation in contemporary organisations
- Given an organisational scenario, make a recommendation for the deployment of appropriate process improvement technologies and evaluate their impact on the organisation
