Aims and objectives

The aim of this unit is to provide learners with an understanding of aspects of the law of contract and tort and the skill to apply them, particularly in business situations. This unit introduces the law of contract, with a particular emphasis on the formation and operation of business cotnracts. Learners will develop skills relating to the practical application of business contracts and other issues of liability and negligence relating to business.
 
After successfully completing this unit, you should be able:
  • Understand the essential elements of a valid contract in a business context
  • Apply the elements of a contract in business situations
  • Apply the principles of liability in negligence in business situations

Teaching methods

Structured learning, including lectures, tutorials and assessments. In addition, the unit requires approximately 90 hours of self-study, projects, assignments and skills development.
