The SSAA is a wholly owned company of Swinburne with student representation on its board.
It has been established to provide a range of services to Swinburne students, among them:
- Orientation
- Student academic advice and advocacy
- Social and cultural activities
- Clubs and societies
- Student publications
- The Night Bus
