Swinburne's Industry-Based Learning (IBL) program gives you the chance to combine your degree with meaningful, paid work in your chosen field for 6 to 12 months, allowing you to apply what you have learnt in the real world. It is more than just temporary work experience – we call it increasing students' employability.
Giving students a foot in the door with valued industry experience is a key part of Swinburne's IBL program. Swinburne has built an exceptional reputation for having close industry ties. The program is one of the largest of its kind in Australia, offering paid employment to over 400 students annually from over 50 courses in more than 220 companies.
Employers are increasingly looking to IBL as a way to recruit new staff, while for students IBL is a significant opportunity for working out career aspirations and directions.
