Having her say: Jessica Swann

Jessica Swann

Former Swinburne student Jessica Swann is now a prime time television presenter in Dubai, co-hosting a women's talk show, Her Say.

The former media and communications student maintains a tight schedule balancing her television commitment to Her Say with a full time job at Dubai's talk radio station Dubai Eye.

Jessica said that her degree at Swinburne prepared her well for her role in radio. "When I first joined the radio station I felt a sense of relief in knowing how to use their equipment as it was the same that I had learnt on at Swinburne. It was also enough of a foundation for me to pick up the other broadcasting systems quickly," she said.

While studying and travelling overseas Jessica worked a variety of jobs and juggled her studies alongside flight attending. Her anything but ordinary work experiences have cemented her view that the world is hungry for people with determination, skill and a will to learn and to keep on learning.

With the idea that she always wanted to work in media, she chose to study at Swinburne because she felt it would allow her to be more hands on and creative and as such it would open more doors for her in developing her career.

Jessica's wish list includes aspirations to one day have her own talk show and through a fusion of cultural enquiry and intercultural dialogue help to bridge the gap in cultural and human understanding.
