Description
Politics is at the core of all social relations. Structured by forces of power, inequities and resource allocation, formal and informal politics shapes our lives on a daily basis. This course explores politics through contemporary and historical perspectives to examine the dimensions of power, globally, nationally and locally. Students learn about national and international politics, comparative political systems, Australia's engagement with the Asia-Pacific region, international relations, security and conflict studies, and human rights.
Structure
Politics and Public Policy Major (for students who commenced studies in Semester 2 2012).
Students must complete 100 credit points from the list of Politics and Public Policy units including at least one (1) capstone unit and one (1) compulsory unit.

Students may choose to complete an additional 50 credit points of study from the above Politics and Public Policy Major list of units. Students who successfully complete the requirements of the Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Social Science program, including a total of 150 credit points from the Politics and Public Policy Major are eligible to apply to graduate with the associated tagged outcome i.e. Bachelor of Arts (Politics and Public Policy) or Bachelor of Social Science (Politics and Public Policy) respectively.
All units are valued at 12.5 credit points each unless otherwise indicated.
