Indigenous Commonwealth Education Costs Scholarships (I-CECS)

The Federal Government aims to improve higher education access for Indigenous people - particularly those who need to relocate from regional and remote areas - through payments to assist with education costs.

Students eligible for an Indigenous Access Scholarship may also receive an  Indigenous CECS Scholarship and, if eligible an Indigenous CAS Scholarship - subject to funding.


Courses Eligible

Any Higher Education program in a Commonwealth Supported place.


Eligibility / Selection Criteria

To be eligible for an I-CECS a student must:

• Be an Indigenous Australian or Torres Strait Islander
• Demonstrate low socio-economic status or financial disadvantage
• Be enrolled in full time undergraduate study at Swinburne in 2012.


Value

Available for up to 8 payment cycles. The value is indexed each year by the government. Value in 2012 is $1,188.50 per semester.
