Indigenous Commonwealth Accommodation Scholarships (I-CAS)

The Federal Government aims to improve higher education access for Indigenous people - particularly those who need to relocate from regional and remote areas -  through payments to assist with education costs. 

Students eligible for an Indigenous Access Scholarship may also receive an Indigenous CAS Scholarship if eligible, and an Indigenous CECS Scholarship  - subject to funding.


Courses Eligible

Any Higher Education program in a Commonwealth Supported place.


Eligibility / Selection Criteria

 To be eligible for an I-CAS a student must:

• Be an Indigenous Australian or Torres Strait Islander
• Be enrolled in full time undergraduate study at Swinburne in 2012
• Demonstrate low socio-economic status or financial disadvantage 
• Have lived or studied in a regional or remote area of Australia within the four years immediately preceding the commencement of the current course of study.


Value

Available for up to 8 payment cycles. The value is indexed each year by the government. Value in 2012 is $2,377 per semester.
