Indigenous Access Scholarships (IAS)

The Federal Government aims to improve higher education access for Indigenous people - particularly those who need to relocate from regional and remote areas - through a one-off payment to take up a higher education undergraduate course.

Students eligible for an IAS may also receive an Indigenous CECS Scholarship and, if eligible, an Indigenous CAS Scholarship - subject to funding.


Courses Eligible

Any Higher Education program in a Commonwealth Supported place.


Eligibility / Selection Criteria

To be eligible for an IAS a student must:

• Be an Indigenous Australian or Torres Strait Islander
• Demonstrate low socio-economic status or financial disadvantage
• Be enrolled in full time undergraduate study at Swinburne in 2012.


Value

One off payment of $4,485 plus (Indigenous CECS - $1,188.50 and if eligible, Indigenous CAS - $2,377 per semester, for up to 8 payment cycles - subject to funding).
