About
Swinburne students who are interested in studying a university degree after TAFE studies can apply directly to Higher Education faculties for admission into a degree program.
The application is handled internally by Swinburne. If you're successful you may also be eligible for credit transfer which reduces the time taken to complete the degree.
Pathways Direct is open for Semester 1 and Semester 2 intakes into undergraduate courses.
Eligibility
Pathways Direct is open to local and international Swinburne students who are currently in their final semester of study in a diploma or an advanced diploma course.
If you're enrolled in the final semester of a certificate IV course at Swinburne, you may be eligible to apply through Pathways Direct.
If you're finishing your course in semester 1, it is possible to apply for a university degree commencing in semester 2 through our Mid-year intake.
If you finished your TAFE qualification mid-year, or some time ago, and did not apply via the university's Mid-year intake, you will need to apply via the Victorian Tertiary Admission Centre (VTAC) or direct application for semester 1 commencement.
Selection criteria
Preference will be given to applicants with credit grade average (65% or above) and to those with no fails in their final year of study.
Credit transfer
If you've completed Swinburne awards such as a diploma or an advanced diploma, you may be eligible for credit exemptions.
The level of credit that will be granted to will depend on the relevance of your TAFE qualification to the program you're enrolling in. You should check the Credit Transfer Guide for advice regarding possible credit.
Certificate IV awards is generally not considered for credit, but may be considered for entry into degree programs.
