Options for Year 10, 11 and 12

Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL)

The Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) is designed to be an alternative for students to the standard VCE.

VCAL focuses on hands-on learning and vocational training, developing students' literacy and numeracy skills, industry-specific skills, work-related skills and personal development skills.

Swinburne offers full-time VCAL programs at intermediate and senior levels, each based on a particular skill area.

Vocational Education and Training (VET) in Schools (VETiS)

Vocational Education and Training (VET) in Schools (VETiS) is a government initiative offering your students a chance to complete VCE while undertaking vocational studies at TAFE or at school.

Our VETiS programs can be delivered at your school through an auspicing arrangement, or at one of our five campuses across Melbourne.

Students will complete a certificate level course, opening up pathway opportunities after secondary school into diplomas, advanced diplomas and degrees through our Guaranteed Entry Scheme.

Vocational introductory programs

Swinburne offers a variety of courses which give Year 7-10* students the chance to experience a taste of vocational training without leaving school.

The majority of courses will be conducted either after school hours or during school term breaks but may also be offered as a one/half day course. All of which can lead into further study either through a VET in Schools in conjunction with VCE or VCAL program, or a full time Certificate post secondary.

These introductory programs will give you an idea of whether its a study option you'd like to follow, and also begin to build skills and knowledge that you might not have been able to develop at school.

*Please note that some courses may have an age restriction of 15.
