Education programs
We run a range of education programs that tie directly into the VCE curriculm and profile our courses.
We also offer a Higher Education Studies program (formally Extension Studies), which allows students to complete university-level study and gain credit for their future studies at Swinburne.
Education programs
Many of Swinburne's faculties run programs for secondary school students who are interested in learning more about a certain industry, field of work or courses.
Some programs tie directly into the VCE curriculum, while others offer study support during exams or hands-on workshops for students to gain an understanding of our courses and careers.
Some past education programs we have run are:
- Exam Preparation
- Girls in IT Day
- VCE IT Applications Day
- VCE Software Development Day
Higher Education Studies
Higher Education Studies gives students the chance to study university units while completing Year 12. They will receive credit for the units they've studied towards a relevant bachelor degree at Swinburne.
The Higher Education Studies program is recognised by the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC) and calculates an ATAR aggregate as the equivalent to a fifth or sixth VCE Unit 3 and 4 sequence. Up to 5 points will be added to a student's ATAR according to the level of achievement.
Course in Tertiary Transition Skills
To help students make a successful start at university, Swinburne offers a program in university study skills.
The Course in Tertiary Transition Skills offers a supportive and practical small-group environment, where students can familiarise themselves with the typical skills needed to best manage the pressures and challenges of degree-level study.
Though students will have some experience in essay writing and exams, this program will help them develop independent learning skills at the level required for university.
The program will also give them a taste of the environment and some hands-on skills such as referencing and research.
