TAFE

Applying for TAFE is a simple, three-step process:

How do I know if I'm a local or international student?

 


Step 1 – Choose Your Course

Choose your course from our online courses database or from our downloadable 2010 Course Guide:

International students please refer to the Swinburne International website.


Step 2 – Find Out the Required Application Method

Wondering if you have to apply through VTAC or directly through Swinburne or both#? Look up your course level and semester in the table below:

*In January and February any courses with places still available will take direct applications. Please note, some Cert IV courses are only available for direct applications (not VTAC). Check course details on our online course database or contact us for further information.

VTAC Applications

If you are applying for a TAFE full-time Certificate IV, Diploma and Advanced Diploma courses commencing in Semester 1 you must complete a VTAC application and submit it electronically via the VTAC website.

Applications open in July and close during the last week of September. Although late applications will be accepted by VTAC until mid December some programs that have special requirements will not accept late applications.

You also have the opportunity to change your course preferences in December after receiving your Year 12 results.

VTAC stands for the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre. It acts as an application and administrative agency for all Victorian universities and TAFEs.

Produced annually, the VTAC Guide to university and TAFE courses is available from newsagents or alternatively may be viewed on the VTAC website.

The VTAC toll free number for general enquires is 1300 364 133.

 

Direct Application

If you are applying for part-time TAFE study, or for a full-time TAFE course that is not offered through the VTAC system, you must apply directly to Swinburne.

Pathways

Recognition of Prior Learning

Swinburne offers Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), which is credit or partial credit towards a qualification in recognition of skills and knowledge gained through work experience, life experience and/or formal training.

Pathways Direct

Pathways Direct is a program available to current Swinburne TAFE students who are interested in studying a Swinburne university-level degree.

 

Apprenticeships and Traineeships

Although apprenticeships and traineeships are TAFE courses, they require a different application method to most other TAFE courses.

If your application is successful, Swinburne will send you a letter of offer. You can accept this offer by email at enrol@swin.edu.au
