Deferring
Higher Education
Swinburne's policy is to allow a maximum two year deferment for all new undergraduate students, except for the courses listed below. Your deferment will lapse if you enrol in another higher education course during the period of deferment.
No deferment is permitted for the following:
- Bachelor of Information Technology Scholarship Program
- Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarships
You can apply to defer by completing the online deferral form. This must be done directly on receipt of your offer and before the end of the acceptance period.
TAFE
If you receive an offer for a TAFE course and wish to apply for a deferment, you must apply directly to the institution on the prescribed form (available from the offering department) before the end of the acceptance period.
Deferment is granted (for a maximum of twelve months) at the discretion of the Department Manager or nominee.
Deferments will not be granted to allow commencement of another course.
