Deferring

Higher Education

The University’s policy is to allow up to one year deferment of study for all new undergraduate students, except for the courses listed below. Any deferment will lapse if the applicant enrols in another higher education course during the period of deferment.
No deferment is permitted for the following:

  • Information Technology Scholarship Program
  • Vice-Chancellor’s Scholarships

Application for deferment must be made by completing the deferral form and lodging it with the appropriate faculty's student administration office. This must be done directly on receipt of an offer and before the end of the acceptance period. See faculty contact details for lodgment of deferral requests below.

TAFE

Applicants in receipt of an offer for a TAFE course who wish to apply for a deferment must apply directly to the institution on the prescribed form (available from the offering department) before the end of the acceptance period. Deferment is granted (for a maximum of twelve months) at the discretion of the Department Manager or nominee. Deferments will not be granted to allow commencement of another course.
